Since 1953, the minimum lot size in Hillsborough is half acre.  One of the main attractions Hillsborough has for home buyers is its charm.  It offers the escape from the pressures of the city.  In addition to the generally quiet atmosphere, Hillsborough has award winning public schools.

Out of many neighborhoods, the Parrott Drive area is known for its high elevations and soaring Bay views. Elon Musk was also one of the homeowners in this area until May 2020, he sold his property for $35 Million dollars.  Another area that is worth mentioning is the Tobin Clark area.  This area offers a dramatic setting for grand-scale newer homes of the 1980s-2000s.  However, if we want to talk about the most prestigious area in all of Hillsborough, it will have to be the Ryan Tract area and the Country Club Manor, where they are located at the Lower North Hillsborough occupies the “flats” and has the highest land values.
In the Hillsborough city elementary school district, there are 2 public and 2 private schools, but no public high schools.  The closest high school district will be the San Mateo Union High school district.
One must visit tourist attraction will have to be the Carolands Chateau.  This is an incredible historical example of French residential architecture existed in the Bay Area. The Heiress and her Chateau: Carolands of California is hidden Bay Area history.  At 65,000 sq ft, Carolands was the second-largest home in the country at the time it was completed in 1915. It has 95 rooms, 4 kitchens, 17 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, separate rooms for flower arranging, polishing silver, baking and storing vegetables. Every inch of it done in the most refined, tasteful style that money could buy, from the gold-plated door knobs to rooms imported in their entirety from French estates.  There are a few Parks that are good for families.
