As many of you are preparing your home for the holidays, whether you are hosting for the holiday feast or just friends in your home, there are a few things you may want to tackle first. While we would try to avoid major renovations, this will be the perfect time for the minor fixes and maintenance items.
1. Bust out the leaf blower
It's smart to take a leave blower to remove all the debris from your driveway, front walkway and patios and decks. Then, use the pressure washer to clean off any the aged moss build up on the concrete or bricks. You can easily rent both of these items by the hours from Home Depot for your one stop shop.
2. Spruce up your windows and front door
Before you decided to hang those Christmas lights and wreath outside your window and door, you might want to clean those windows or even give your door a new coat of paint. Imagine, all eyes are going to be on your stunning window displays once the decorations are up, you want the decoration to shine, not the grime.
3. Fix the loose items
Either it is a step at your front door or on your staircase, you will want to make sure that they are good for higher traffic with all your guests visits. Some minor creaky sounds may turn into the worst vocal point as more and more people walks on it, and you don’t want your house to be called “ The haunted house” ever since, right?
4. Have a deep-clean of your kitchen
Re-polish, re-caulk and re-oil would be a good idea for your kitchen before the “master chefs” perform their magic show in the kitchen, however, don’t forget to clean before any of the polishing work, otherwise, you will be trapping those stains in the quartz/granite or tiles forever.
5. Stock your Bathrooms
Be sure that all of your powder rooms, bathrooms and kitchen have plenty supply of toilet paper, hand towels, kitchen towels, scent candles, and air fresheners. Anything that can make your holiday guests feel welcome should be included.
